Just a little something I wanted to quickly post: my design for my sister-in-law’s {Cassie’s} baby shower. I stumbled upon it yesterday and realized I should share it! Flash forward a couple months and I’m the godmother of the bundle of joy {Lydia Maureen} … and loving every minute of her warm presence. I also wanted to share a few photos from our newborn photo-shoot together, one of which includes the paintings I had created as my shower gift to Cassie — all in “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” style.
Here’s a peek at my relaxing, adventurous, and meditative time away in Florida. We were lucky enough to stay with Alex’s family in Naples but also spent a few days in Fort Myers beach. I honestly can’t express into words how much fun I had, how many times I laughed, how many lifelong memories I now have with Alex, and how strongly I believe in the rejuvenating power of travel.

Congratulations to Jolene and Nathan Ries! I was so excited when this fun-loving couple asked me to capture their Minnesotan reception, an event which took place after their romantic destination-wedding in Mexico earlier this year. I had previously photographed the two last February [view here] and couldn’t wait to photograph them again. They make it so easy! Behold a peek at Kayla and Anthony’s big day! The weather could not have been more blissful on this sunny November day, and it made for a very carefree and energetic wedding. I absolutely loved photographing this couple — both on their wedding day and during their engagement. What a great couple and awesome, awesome wedding party. Thank you, Kayla and Anthony, for thinking of me to capture these moments.
I’m pretty happy with my most recent décor project – so much that I’m literally taking time to blog about it. I feel it accurately represents my personal taste in home décor: nature + country in a modern-contemporary style. I love it, along with the memory I have associated with its creation. I hiked to find the right stick, sanded it down to my satisfaction, spray-painted and suspended with copper wire. Simply put, I like this stick!
As I go through a time in my life when the right path is not completely obvious, I’ve decided to use my emotions to define what it is I truly want. What truly brings me joy? It’s a mighty question that may take a lifetime to answer, but I’m starting small by creating a home for my hopes, goals, and dreams — focusing on the things that have already brought me joy. One after the other, I will develop a realistic step-by-step process to transform each of these dreams into accomplishments. I will allow myself to add to the jar at any given time, and I will update/remove/prioritize annually. The jar is fully equipped with a piece from my childhood dreamcatcher, and also a pin from my ever-so-beautiful grandmother who passed away in 2006. I fully anticipate needed a larger jar eventually! This head is full of dreams.
My brother and his beautiful-in-every-way fiance are expecting a little girl in December and I am BEYOND excited for them. I have a feeling that I’m really going to love being an aunt, and I know this special little girl is going to have a huge part of my heart. I have the pleasure of hosting her baby shower soon, and wanted to post a quick look at the invitations. Maternity photography coming in another month!
