From the monthly archives: September 2011

One of my best friends from college got married last Friday, September 16th. Dillon & Lara had such a worry free wedding at the Enchanted Barn in Hillsdale, WI. I am so happy for this couple, and I thank them for having me read in their ceremony. I didn’t shoot a ton at the wedding, but here are a few photographs.

The lingering cloud was so cool.

Something New Everyday || My first yoga session to the sunset.  It was actually very exhilarating [even with the distraction of my attention-seeking kitten and my dad peering out the window in confusion].

After yoga I took time to admire the moon, which looked extra amazing. I thought it was just the yoga mindset kickin’ in but nope, my dad then clued me in that tonight was actually a harvest moon, one of the prettiest moons of the year. Score. (more about the harvest moon) I feel very hippie-esque right now.

Alright, so I lied about blogging daily. It’s not very convenient, and I don’t know how hardcore bloggers do it.. So I’ve decided to blog in bulk, and sometimes out of order. BUT I HAVE BEEN PARTICIPATING IN MY ‘SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY’ MONTH. So far, so good. Anywho… today was my first wine tasting event (I know, crazy right?). Taylor suggested we go, and it turned out to be a great time. What a buzz you can catch after six different wines are poured for you in three minutes… no complaints here. I didn’t know this place existed and it was a mere 15 minutes from my house (right off of HWY 13 for all you New Praguers). I love a local vineyard, and I couldn’t leave without a bottle of the Crofut family’s ‘Northwood Red’. Wine tasting, shopping, grape-stomping, food, & music — all for a $5  fee.  I love me some five-dollar-fun. Here’s a look:

I also watched the game. The Vikings lost. If they had won it would have been part of my ‘something new everyday’ challenge. Get it?! Hahahaaaaaaaaa…. at least the wings were good.

DAY TWO Something New: I made sushi. For the first time without my roommate Todd’s help. It was awesome.

P.S. The Seward Co-op is over-priced…but it does help out the local farmers…so that’s cool. seward.coop

Day one and I’m already cheating. Well, not really. I did do something different, I just don’t have any photography to show for it..

DAY ONE’s something different: Went to Half-Price Books in St.Paul and bought:  The Awakening and Selected Stories by Kate Chopin + The Book of Shadows Edited by Jeffrey Fraenkel + a color theory book to reference while I paint. All for 23 buck-a-roos. Thank you, Half Priced Books. Off to read some Chopin! Peace.

I had a mini-epiphany on the way to work today. IF YOU’RE BORED, YOU’RE BORING. Last month was my ‘no purchase’ month, where I did not buy anything unnecessary (shoes, clothing, accessories) for the entire month. This month is my ‘something new everyday’ month. Everyday for a month I will try something new, go somewhere different, or do something interesting. How will I keep myself in line with this? I will blog daily (or almost daily with the exception of days with travel). Yep. My camera’s coming with me, and my blog’s keeping documentation.

Okay, it’s in words. Now I gotta’ get some work done and then maybe I’ll hit up the library — new enough for me! See ya!
